1920s In the early 1920s, local civic and business leaders in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo established Michigan's first community foundations.
Growing years In the years that followed, other local community foundations were established, and tens of thousands of Michiganders - from all economic backgrounds - joined with their local community foundations to create permanent charitable funds to meet the needs of their communities.
Today Our state is a U.S. leader with 65 community foundations, serving citizens in every Michigan county. Collectively, we make over 8,000 grants a year. |
